The acclaimed Swedish dance group Bounce are returning to the Peacock Theatre with Insane In The Brain from the 15th September after a successful first season in Spring 2008.

Bounce’s Insane In The Brain takes the story from Dale Wasserman’s play, based on Ken Kesey’s novel of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and gives it a hip hop twist. Set inside a mental asylum where rebelliousness and freedom is expressed through powerful street dance and the controlling Nurse Ratched uses ballet to pacify and subdue her patients.

Insane In The Brain adds a soundtrack with songs from Missy Elliot, Dizzee Rascal, and the group from which the play takes its name, Cypress Hill for a hip hop feel that audiences who saw Into The Hoods will feel familiar with.

We’re particularly excited about the breaking on bungee ropes, and, same way as we were doing when we watched Into The Hoods and Pied Piper, looking out for similarities between Bounce’s adaptation and the original text.

If you’re not familiar with who Bounce are yet, or haven’t decided if you want to buy a ticket, then check out this video of their flashmob dedication to Michael Jackson for an idea of the innovation you should expect from Insane In The Brain.

After its initial run at the Peacock Theatre, Insane In The Brain will then tour the UK. If you can’t make the London leg of the tour, the production runs through to the end of November at the following theatres:
