Getting down with the Dance Mob

Southbank Centre, August 30

Clicking play will start the playlist for the Dance Mob

Did you dig the T-Mobile flash mob dances? We did, but it was completely unannounced, thrown together in a week and using professional dancers. They’ve spawned a multitude of imitation flashmobs (we have some on our Michael Jackson “Come Together” dance showcase story, check it out here). Wicked though those flashmobs were, there hasn’t been a flashmob for the common person, those that aren’t professional but just like to dance.

That’s why the Southbank Centre have created Dance Mob. The Dance Mob routine is easy enough to learn for beginners, choreographed by Into The Hoods creator Kate Prince in preparation for Big Dance 2010. At 3pm on Sunday 30th August a mass performance will take place at London’s Southbank Centre. There’s a week to go, but don’t fret if you haven’t learnt it yet, classes are taking place on the hour every hour in the Clore Ballroom from 11am on the run up to Sunday.

If you can’t make them, then you can click the YouTube video above, the playlist automatically takes you to the next video.

If you’re about, make like the routine and DANCE!
